AOS NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT AND PEDIATRIC HIV/AIDS TREATMENT PROGRAM

Since the founding of AOS in 2003, we have continued to supply the AOS children and their families with nutritional supplements such as milk powder, rice, grains and other nutritional needs. HIV/AIDS infected individuals and children have compromised immune systems that require additional nutritional support. AOS supports children and their families by providing them with these supplements on a weekly and monthly basis.

The Pediatric HIV/AIDS Treatment Program is our newest, innovative and ongoing project based on the idea that a health care can be provided safely and cost-efficiently by local community members. Some of the AOS staff double as trained as community health workers to provide medical support to children infected with HIV/AIDS. The medical regime of children with HIV is complex and young children need supervision to ensure proper medicine adherence. However, many children are unable to take their medicines on a timely basis because they have parents that are migrant workers and grandparents that are illiterate. The lack of medicine adherence ultimately leads to virus mutation and medicine failure.  Our Pediatric ARV Treatment Support founded by Eliza Petrow in Boston, is a project that works in collaboration with local doctors, family members, and the local CDC to address these issues.
